Under the direction of an appropriately licensed healthcare provider, initiate and preform positron emission and computerized tomography procedures ordered with focused support of excellent customer service. This role supports safety with quality outcomes to support the determination of next steps in patient plan of care. Ability to complete a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnosis. Complete data entry using appropriate software packages for processing of images. Provide specialized technical skills, critical thinking, problem solving and medical knowledge including anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Correlates related patient data with the application of physics principles to obtain images for the determination of diagnosis. Be an active participant and supporter of radiation protection and safety. Obtain quality scans, process images then submit quality images that support patient safety, comfort and imaging needs.
Associate degree in Radiography and / or completed certificate program in Radiography.
One (1) year of medical image related experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certification / Licensure:
Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT or ARRT)
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB CT)
Must be licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Sciences (AZDHS)
Requires BLS. A BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center is preferred and will be required within 3 months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his / her age specific needs and provide the care needed as described in the unit’s department policies and procedures.
